Katcha Lookin’: at my first blog.

Hey everyone! My name is Katja Krasnovsky, although most people know me as Kotty. Next year I will be a senior here at Southport High School, and I have the pleasure of calling myself the News Bureau Chief for the 2010-2011 school year. I remember the day the News Bureau advisor, Mr. Klopfenstein, offered me the position. I was filled with so many emotions, shock being the most prominent. I honestly never thought that I could reach this point of achievement. The only sounds that escaped the smile that was spread across my face were high-pitched squeals and the word “yes” repeated approximately 100 times back-to-back. Immediately, my mind was being filled with ideas and goals for next year.
This blog entry is an introduction to my future blogs for next year. With the help of Jess Bratton, Bureau Chief for 2009-2010, we came up with “Katcha Lookin’” as the name for my blog. My hope for this blog is to share the ways that Southport has influenced me and the positive things that I have witnessed here. I hope that by reading my blog, students can find the positive activities or aspects at our school that are helping me to become a better person daily.
This year, Bureau has gone above and beyond, achieving the most success it has had since it was started only three short years ago. We have covered everything from the budget cuts for next year to student achievements. We have reached 5,140 visitors and an all time high page views of 53,315. During our biggest week ever, we reached 637 viewers and 4,730 page views. Yes, we were very successful this year.
The overall goal of the News Bureau is to share as many of the positive attributes at Southport with the community as possible. For example, scholarships, students of the month, cast biographies for theatre productions, etc. It is my opinion that we did a great job of accomplishing that this year. My goal, however, is to take Bureau even farther. I want more viewers to visit our website. To help us achieve our goals, we need to make more people aware of the SHS News Bureau. Advertisement is a key component in this situation. I picture every locker in our populated school next year with a SHS News Bureau flyer on it. What a beautiful sight!
I have much deserved faith in my staff for next year, and I know if we work hard we can accomplish and surpass these goals. I hope I will be able to say, “Katcha Lookin’” to you and many more next year.
